James Hill has signed up to do the London Triathlon to help get back into shape and raise funds for the Jimmy Mizen Foundation. James says:
“With 5 months of travels behind me, it is time...
On the 2nd anniversary of the death of our Jimmy, and the day after what would have been his 18th birthday, the family of Jimmy are holding a peace service. It will be at Westminster Cathedral on Monday 10th May 2010 at 3pm.
The service will be called “Building A Legacy Of Peace” and will be an opportunity for a national call for peace in our communities. We all have a responsibility to work for peace. The government, police, education and social services can not do this on their own, no matter how hard they try, without the help, commitment, and encouragement of the rest of society. A more peaceful life is what most of us desire, there is far to much anger and confrontation, and the usual response is to say “they” must do something, as if it was that easy a problem to solve. There is no “they” it is “we’ and there is not one single solution but many varied things that need to happen, and an acceptance that we will work for peace is a good beginning.
The service is on the 10th because of Jimmy, but will also be dedicated to all the loved ones lost to violent crime. We intend to invite as many families of victims as possible, and would ask if you know any, please ask them to let us know.
We will also be inviting as many people who have been trusted with positions of leadership as possible. These will be people from the political, civil, and justice areas of society, as well as people from the media.
Please support this call to bring peace to our communities.
PLEASE NOTE THAT ENTRY TO THIS EVENT IS TICKET ONLY AND ALL TICKETS HAVE NOW BEEN ISSUED.
